Say NO to Brownlow – 18 Brownlow OMB Update Feb 2017

It’s Official!

SERRA and TSCC2120 (aka 83 Redpath and the Redpath townhomes) have now joined forces as one (strong) PARTY at the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).

We have hired a municipal lawyer and an urban planner with extensive experience at the OMB. In fact, our lawyer recently opposed the developer on one of his other projects, in Etobicoke (no ruling from the OMB yet).

Our new “team” participated in a second pre-hearing at the OMB on Feb. 9, that ended with a good first win – the developer agreed to designate parkland on the property. The next debate will be on the location and size of the parkland (representing almost 20% of his acquired land).

As a result of the parkland designation, the developer has to submit a new design for the site by the end of Feb. We will need to comment on the revised design and amend the issues list (our concerns) that we submitted to the OMB. We will arrange a public meeting to discuss the new proposal.

Behind the scenes we have been busy with communications and fund-raising activities. We are working on a dedicated NoToBrownlow website – details to follow soon! We already have a Twitter account – @notobrownlow – and Facebook and Instagram will be on board soon.

But most important, we have been actively fund-raising. Professional lawyers and planners cost A LOT of money. A BIG THANK YOU to those who have already given to the cause. Please consider topping up your donation. For those who have yet to support NoToBrownlow, you can donate easily here

18 Brownlow – Making progress but the fight continues ….

November 2017 Update with pictures included at the end of the update below: It’s hard to believe, but this development has been at the OMB for more than TWO years now and we aren’t even at a stage yet of a full Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearing, where both sides put forth their arguments about “good development” (now scheduled for May, 2018). Instead it has been about procedural issues of the developer NOT complying with city planning … Read more 18 Brownlow – Making progress but the fight continues ….
