The SERRA neighbourhood has seen periods of Tall/Midrise construction in the late Fifties (Yonge subway build) and again during the early Seventies (before Mayor Crombie).

In the last fifteen years, we’ve seen an increasing number of Tall Homes built.  Initially, the “minor” Variance requested were granted at the Committee of Adjustment with little or no objection, setting a precedent that is increasingly difficult to fight against.

Now it appears we are at the start of another, even bigger construction period.

With the Crosstown Subway project started and the Y-E area being designated by the Province as a high growth node, we are in the Developer’s sweet spot.

This time development pressures will likely be felt even on Mt Pleasant Road and Bayview Avenue with Crosstown subway stops planned at intersections of those roads with Eglinton Avenue East.

SERRA is committed to participate in the City Planning review of these developments and provide you with frequent updates on this site. We work in close relationship with our Councillor Josh Matlow and his staff and with the City of Toronto Planners.
